Therapy Dog Evaluation Preparation Essentials
This class is for people preparing their dogs for a Therapy Dog evaluation.
Taking this course does not guarantee you will pass an evaluation with your chosen organization but teaches you what to expect in an evaluation and to prepare for it.
Hours: 1 hour per week for 5 weeks.

In K9 Therapy Evaluation Essentials, you will learn how to:
• Develop effective communication with your dog• Use the Principals of Positive Reinforcement
• Understand the Role of the Therapy Dog Volunteer Team
• Leave it and Drop it
• Develop loose Leash Walking techniques
• Develop desensitization around mobility equipment
• Develop calm greetings
• Recognize stress and anxiety in your dog
• Introduce your dog to novel sights and sounds
• Allow your dog to be safely handled by strangers
• Wait politely at doors
Vaccination Requirements
All dogs must have vaccinations for canine distemper, canine parvovirus and rabies within the last three years. We also accept serum antibody titer tests.
